The Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) internship at WRIC will run from approximately Monday, June 2, 2025, through Friday, July 25, 2025.  You can only apply for this internship if you were referred through the VAB.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following rotation duties

Researching, pitching and reporting stories
Helping find and process video from social media and other sources
Shooting and editing video and photographs
Writing scripts
Producing television shows
Producing digital channels
Other assignments as deemed necessary by management

Qualifications and requirements

Must be a college student, junior or above, pursuing a degree at an accredited institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
Ideal academic background include journalism, broadcast journalism, digital/new media studies, communications, marketing, public relations, production, English and social media
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a Visa or sponsorship

Ability to develop strong news judgment 


The student shall

Obtain and complete any forms necessary to receive college credit
Abide by all safety rules and procedures of the company
Exert best efforts in receiving training and cooperate with and follow the instructions of employees of the company
Maintain strictly the confidences of company, customers and all information or data received regarding the company and any of its trade secrets or any other confidential business information received by the student
