Multimedia Journalist

WFXR is excited to welcome a Multimedia Journalist to our team! This opportunity is perfect for journalists just beginning their careers in news, with the chance to learn and grow alongside an eager, passionate team of professionals.  Strong candidates will bring with them an open mind, a desire to enhance their skills and the drive to make the most of the opportunity.  From breaking and spot news to severe weather coverage, feature reporting and everything in between, our next MMJ will have no shortage of opportunities to develop their skillset and contribute to our goals right away.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Reporting news stories for broadcast and digital platforms, including the wfxrtv.com website and various social media sites
Working in concert with managers, producers and other colleagues to meet critical standards for accuracy, journalistic integrity, grammar and quality writing
Researching, analyzing and vetting background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate information
Gathering information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions
Shooting, editing and present news stories for broadcast and digital platforms
Interacting with viewers at news events as well as station-sponsored community events
Other duties as assigned 


Requirements & Skills: 

Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
On-air experience in news reporting strongly preferred
Superior on-air presence
Ability and willingness to work varying shifts, including overnights, weekends and holidays
Familiarity with required equipment and systems strongly preferred, including broadcast camera and related gear, Adobe Premiere, ENPS and Wordpress
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Valid driver's license with a good driving record 
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations if needed
