WCAV-WVAW-FOX Virginia, a Lockwood Broadcast Group station in beautiful Charlottesville, Va. is looking for a photographer for its growing newsroom.

 

The photographer works with reporters and anchors to shoot and edit news stories out in the community. The photographer also runs live equipment during newscasts for remote reporting.

 

The position also involves a significant amount of video editing for evening newscasts.

 

The right candidate will work well in a fast-paced environment and be able to juggle many tasks at once.

Summary of Duties:

 

Shoot compelling video for fast-paced news broadcasts.

 

Essential Functions:

 
  • Must be able to work in a pressured and very competitive environment with an experienced team.
  • Shoot live news footage a well as edit footage for news shows.
  • Gather information, take notes as necessary, and insure that basic information is on tape and relayed to the newscast producer.
  • Looks for and takes opportunities to capture compelling pictures and communicates with producers and reporters to make sure that the best pictures are taken and then used in telling stories.
  • Works with reporter as a team to get the best possible video to tell each story with accuracy and maximum impact.
  • Edits stories as assigned in professional manner.
 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

 
  • Familiarity with non-linear edit systems and LiveU backpacks is a plus
  • Able to work varying shifts to accommodate scheduling needs
  • Must be proficient in video producing and editing
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record

Physical requirements:

Good eyesight and hearing, ability to walk up stairs and sometimes long distances, ability to lift weights up to 30 pounds, ability to sit for a long period of time in a vehicle or desk, ability to handle often stressful situations under deadline, good manual and overall physical dexterity
