WCAV/WVAW/WAHU (CBS19, FOX Virginia, ABC Virginia in Charlottesville) is seeking a full-time Broadcast/IT Engineer. This position reports to the Chief Engineer. We always are looking to get the most out of every piece of technology in new and creative ways. Maintaining our IP based workflow from Ross Overdrive, VIZRT Graphics, video editors, network switches and virtual machines we handle it all and use the strengths of each team member to make each other better.

Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 
  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and applications within the station.
  • Troubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and networked systems.
  • Routine maintenance of hardware and software, such as performing software upgrades and file backups on the network daily, weekly, or monthly.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical literature.
  • Solve IT Help Desk problems promptly.
  • Assist computer users through phone, email, or in-person.
  • Train users to work with new computer hardware or software.
  • Set up or repair broadcast equipment, computer equipment and related devices.
 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 
  • Strong knowledge of RF systems or television studio signals.
 
  • Strong knowledge in computer and IT systems.
  • Associated Degree in electronics or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in computer user support.
 

Physical Requirements:

 

Must be capable of lifting at least 50lbs, good or corrected vision and hearing, and work in different weather conditions.

 

Work Schedule:

 

Will work a five (5) day a week shift, and be able to work odd hours, nights, weekends, and holidays if needed. Must also be able to work a rotating on call schedule and report to work when needed.
