WSET ABC 13, in beautiful Lynchburg, Virginia, has an immediate opening for an Executive Producer. The ideal candidate will be a "show doctor," helping to oversee the creative production of news content on all platforms. The EP will review content for fairness, balance and accuracy. You will work closely with producers (both newscast and digital) and reporters on daily story selection and coverage. As a newsroom manager, the expectation is that the Executive Producer will lead by example.

The responsibilities of our Executive Producer will include:

Oversee daily newscasts to ensure we are serving our local communities by sharing relevant information to alert, empower, and protect our audiences.
Review stories for accuracy, balance, and fairness and provide feedback to encourage powerful storytelling.
Assist with supervising the newsroom staff. 
Collaborate with News Director and other station managers to create strategic programming.
Fill-in producing of daily newscasts, as needed, and special programming.   
What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging newscasts through showcasing. 
Ability to perform well under pressure.
Experience managing breaking news, and meeting strict deadlines.
Identity problems and provide solutions.
A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics.
Extraordinary people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating.
Strong understanding of how to drive digital traffic.
Minimum of three years producing in a television news environment or equivalent.
A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred.
Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results.
