WMRA Public Radio at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Part-Time Announcer. WMRA is Harrisonburg’s local NPR affiliate, with a broadcast range spanning the Shenandoah Valley, Charlottesville, Winchester, Lexington, and Farmville, Virginia. WMRA and sister station WEMC are supported by the local community and are recognized for quality programming. Part-time announcer serves as an on-air host with a regular recorded shift on Sundays. Fills in for weekday live shifts as needed, including Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Operates broadcast equipment during on-air shift. Other duties as assigned. Expected schedule is 5 hours per week, on average.
Qualified applicants should be able to speak clearly and understand basic word processing and general computer operations. Radio announcing experience, familiarity with NPR, and audio editing experience preferred. Must be available to work Sunday evenings and have flexibility to fill in other shifts as needed.
This is a part-time wage position working an average of 5 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
