The Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) paid internship at WRIC will run from approximately Monday, June 1, 2026, through Friday, July 26, 2026.  You can ONLY apply for this internship if you were referred through the VAB.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following rotation duties

  • Researching, pitching and reporting stories
  • Helping find and process video from social media and other sources
  • Shooting and editing video and photographs
  • Writing scripts
  • Producing television shows
  • Producing digital channels
  • Other assignments as deemed necessary by management

Qualifications and requirements

  • Must be a college student, junior or above, pursuing a degree at an accredited institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress
  • Must be a member of The Virginia Association of Broadcasters
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Ideal academic background include journalism, broadcast journalism, digital/new media studies, communications, marketing, public relations, production, English and social media
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a Visa or sponsorship

The student shall

  • Obtain and complete any forms necessary to receive college credit
  • Abide by all safety rules and procedures of the company
  • Exert best efforts in receiving training and cooperate with and follow the instructions of employees of the company
  • Maintain strictly the confidences of company, customers and all information or data received regarding the company and any of its trade secrets or any other confidential business information received by the student
