Weekend News Anchor/MMJ (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth)

WAVY-TV 10 / WVBT FOX 43 is searching for a driven News Anchor/MMJ dedicated to breaking news and getting answers for the people in the Norfolk, Virginia market. Journalists at WAVY keep public service as the highest priority. The station has a reputation for winning breaking news coverage and using top shelf technology and resources.
The successful candidate will have strong command of all aspects of anchoring; demonstrates strong news judgment; and is a proven team leader. You must show the desire to put journalistic skills such as newsgathering, writing, interviewing, and ethical decision-making into practice daily. You will be responsible for generating sources, enterprising story ideas, and follow-ups. "Digital First” thinking is a must. You must be able to shoot and edit your own stories. Our goal is to connect with our Spanish-speaking community on all platforms including television, web and social media.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a multi-media journalist or reporter and fill-in anchor at a commercial station is required.
Requirements & Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field preferred
· 2 + years MMJ experience
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
· Superior on-air presence
· Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
· Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
· Valid driver's license with a good driving record
· Flexibility to work any shift including overnights and weekends
Fluency in English, bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Overnights, nights, and weekends may be required; candidate must be willing and able to work any and all shifts.
