Every day, our employees touch the lives of the communities in southeastern Virginia. 89.5 WHRV is seeking an experienced Producer for our award winning community/public affairs program Hearsay with Cathy Lewis. This position reports to the Director of Programming and Audience Strategy, and works closely with host and executive producer, Cathy Lewis. The position will be responsible for collective planning, research, scheduling, coordination, and execution of HearSay airing live at noon, Monday through Thursday. The successful candidate will ensure the shows overall tone and continuing evolution are consistent with the WHRO & WHRV public media brand. The producer must initiate and maintain relationships with guests, fellow broadcast producers within and outside the organization. The What You Must Have: • A strong interest in public affairs, news and pop culture. • Ability to multi-task and work with specific deadlines, be highly organized and have good delegation skills. • 2-4 years experience as a host or producer in radio/podcasting or related experience. • College degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. • STRONG social media skills: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. • Ability to work on tight deadlines in a high-intensity environment.
