Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ Gray Television supports local community interests by providing quality television broadcasting and exceptional service in each market we serve. WHSV is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia situated in the Shenandoah Valley. We have been consistently honored for our journalism. Our team produces nearly 30 hours of local news each week. We strive to bring our viewers the best content on all platforms. Harrisonburg is a thriving community located two hours from Washington, D.C. and Richmond. We are the area's ABC, CBS and FOX affiliates. We also operate a 24/7 weather channel. WHSV is looking for our next weekend meteorologist to join our award-winning First Alert Storm Team! In this unique position, the successful candidate will provide on-air weather reports during our weekend newscasts and do general assignment reporting for the news department three days per week. We're looking for a dynamic storyteller who can ad-lib while presenting the weather, and report live from the field. We strive to keep our viewers informed digitally, so you must be proficient with social media and demonstrate you understand the importance of it. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES : - Present weather forecasts on weekend 6:00p.m. and 11:00p.m. newscasts - Build weather graphics on WSI Max weather computers - General assignment news reporting three days each week - Enterprise, pitch, shoot, write, edit, and front stories - Report live from breaking news/weather situations - Be active on social media and embrace it - Fill-in on weekday weather shifts as needed - Represent the station at community events - Meet deadlines; good at time management; ability to work independently; open to feedback QUALIFICATIONS: - A degree in broadcast meteorology (preferred) - A degree in broadcast communications/journalism (required) - NWA/AMS/CBM Seal(s) of Approval preferred - Demonstrates good news judgment and decision making - A good driving record is required ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please apply online at Gray Television provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
