Scholarship Grant Information and Application
One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 and three scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be
awarded to entering juniors or seniors at a college or university that offers undergraduate training
in broadcasting related programs, such as mass media, communications, journalism, and advertising, or
to a student enrolled in a professional broadcasting school certified by the Virginia Department of Education.
- In order to qualify for the grant, applicant must meet the following conditions:
- Virginia resident attending and in good standing at a college, university, or professional
broadcast school certified by the Virginia Department of Education — or a nonresident student attending
and in good standing at a Virginia college, university, or professional broadcast school certified by
the Virginia Department of Education.
- Good moral character.
- Provide proof of need for financial assistance.
- Exhibit grades in previous academic work which, in the judgment of VAB, are adequate to give reasonable assurance of success in completing college, or
the technical program.
- Select a course of study relating to a broadcasting career.
- Apply for the grant in the manner herein, and furnish the information requested on the official application form.
- Intend to pursue a career in broadcasting.
- Applicant should return application, transcript, essay, and financial need form (parent or guardian’s
last federal income tax return will suffice) to the Virginia Association of Broadcasters, 600 Peter Jefferson
Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911, Attention Scholarship Committee, no later than February
15, 2008. If all of these are not received, the application will not be considered.
